Went to The Gay Bookstore That Can Only Be Approached By Driving In A Big Circle Due To One-Way And Diagonal Streets WTF, and picked up But I'm a Cheerleader (haven't watched yet) and The Truth About Jane, a movie-of-the-week about high school coming-out which is very MOTW, at least in the final third, but wins due to the baby lesbian being portrayed by Ellen Muth, of Dead Like Me, and her mother being (slightly over)played by Stockard Channing. Also a fluffy lesbian chick-mystery novel that I haven't read yet.

Then we went next door to the coffee shop where maeyan's former co-worker now works, for conversation, gossip, and perusal of cute gay boys. Of which there were several.

Watched Ring 2 this week, and, not to echo the multitudes, but OMGWTFCaribou? Really, really really bad CGI reindeer. I'm not even hung up on the cracktastic plotty thing of the mother and son being attacked by them; I'm still back at expecting Shrek to ride out on the lead stag's back, it was that cartoony.

Happy Birthday to maeyan, BTW. Um, yesterday. Not that I forgot it, but I didn't think to mention it in LJ.

There were reindeerlike things of some sort, si. That were influenced by Samara to attack Mom&Son's car while driving through the woods. Bad, bad, bad, bad, bad CGI.

... ohh, deer.

Errr, dear.

So now she not only has the power to transfer her thoughts and memories onto a magnetized VHS tape and simultaneously curse it so that anyone who watches it dies in 7 days and can manipulate X-ray film... she can also psychically control animals?

Methinks Samara is a Mary-Sue!

Well, as somebody else who was reviewing it acknowledged, she always had an upsetting effect on animals, even when alive - and ghost!Samara drove a horse to commit suicide in the first movie. But going from scaring the crap out of animals to controlling their actions against a target is a bit of a power-jump.

Exactly.

And, I mean... reindeer. How's that for random and lame? I mean, at least go for something vicious like... wolves or ... I dunno, wasps or something. *scratches head*

Oh, and btw - "But I'm A Cheerleader" is fantastic. :D

This one is near downtown Indianapolis, but on a one-way street going south, and downtown is south of it -- which means you have to go up and over and around and down... and at least two of the streets (at least the ones that mapquest recommends) are weird-ass northeast-southwest or vice-versa streets where the intersections you have to turn at contain 3 streets instead of 2. And if you turn down the wrong one you're going the wrong way on a 1-way. *gets dizzy*

You'll love BIAC! It's awesome. Have you seen Boys Don't Cry? Also a must-see.

Can't do Boys Don't Cry - I can't do tragedy. Not dramatised, anyway; I occasionally read true-crime novels or watch casefile shows. I've read the Aphrodite Jones bio on Brendon (All She Wanted) years before the movie came out, and that's enough exposure to vicious assholery for me.

*nods* True...that is very much a tragedy....
