Friday Five. Then off to RPG.
1. What is your lineage? Where are your ancestors from?

My father's side? God only knows. My mother says he was of Italian descent, but my mother spins elaborate fantasies at the drop of a hat, so I don't take her word for things like this.

My mother's mother was pure German. Grandpa's family was mixed-bag Indiana hillbilly. They've been in the U.S. back to the Revolutionary War, but information gets sketchier and sketchier as the family's genealogy hits that period. Since the names are Robinson, Chapman, Martin, etc, English and probably German is a good guess.

2. Of those countries, which would you most like to visit?

I've visited England; it's probably still my favourite.

3. Which would you least like to visit? Why?

Italy, because, well, I don't speak Italian! (I do speak enough German to at least get myself directed to the nearest library where I could take a refresher course. Italian, I've had one semester of, and can wish someone good luck on an exam, and ask for the restroom.)

4. Do you do anything during the year to celebrate or recognize your heritage?

Yes. Like all the other Germanic women in my family, I stay short and round all year, as an expression of respect for my ancestors.

5. Who were the first ancestors to move to your present country (parents, grandparents, etc)?

Oldest traced ancestor was some sort of drummer boy (official? tag along?) in the revolutionary war. Most recent immigrants would be my great great great grandfather, who immigrated from Germany in the late 1800's. That side of the family is, as mentioned, pure German - they all married their neighbors and their cousins once removed, and they're all short and plump and have maloccluded lower jaws. Sadly, I take after them.

Don't dislike Italy! Our respected ancestors are short and round as well, and can make a kick ass tomato sauce.;)
