Extreme Whovian Geekage Take Two

Which companion/assistant's eyes changed colour during the series?

(Don't look at me like that! It was a plot point!)

From what colour to what colour?

Why? (In the story)

Why? (Behind the scenes) { this is where the extreme geekiness comes in }

Leela's changed from brown to blue because Louise Jameson couldn't take the contacts any more ahem, she looked into a really bright light when those icky guys with all the suckers were taking off.

There's a reason "geek" is my icon! -G-

Give the lady a bag of jelly babies!

But why were they brown in the first place?

You know, that I don't think I've ever heard. Presumably because blue eyes didn't make her look "savage" enough? After all, we all know all sub-evolved peoples have brown eyes, right? :P

Yeah, that was basically it. They didn't think blue eyes looked 'exotic' enough.

Course, they missed/ignored that, since the people were descended from more or less European humans, there'd naturally be blue eyes in the pool. And small gene pool = more recessives, not less, right?

I can't remember, but I think so. And yeah, they were all descended from European stock, as far as we saw, so you'd think some would have blue eyes. But then, that would be logical.

Good guess, slash tolerant boyfriend, - and for a minute I thought I'd have to give out the "Oops, yeah that works too" prize, but lucky me, no.

Mary Tamm (Romana I) and Lalla Ward both have blue (or at least bluish) eyes.

Oooh, ooh, I was right on all accounts! Yay!! See, all those long nights of coaching weren't completely in vain! Nor were the shaker Daleks and the brussel sprout Rutons. ::sigh:: those were the days.
