Woe is me...

So gah. Grr-arrgh. Either my keyboard is packing in, or my PC is. You can guess which one I'd prefer. Last night after catching Revelations and Lover's Walk on the DVD player, tried to mess about with some graphics in Photoshop and the keyboard went absolutely bugnuts. Randomly opening programs, typing characters that aren't there... Not one key works properly. Tried unplugging it and gettingi t to re-detect (it's a USB keyboard) but that doesn't seem to have affected it -- though it also isn't really bringing up the "Have detected new hardware" cycle, so I'm not sure if it's really acknowledging that I uninstalled it in the first place. Grrr.

Really, really hoping it's the keyboard, because I do *not* want to deal with the Great Hard Drive Meltdown Of Doooooooom again. Especially on my [relatively] new PC. With all my pretty pictures on it.

We're off to buy a keyboard, a wonderful keyboard that works

Yay! State of the PC:

Spiffy new (Radio Shack, 20 bucks) PS/2 keyboard (the old one was USB) is working just fine. And it has those neat little stand-up legs that were...uh... mysteriously broken on every other keyboard I own due to me slamming my hands down on them in fury whenever something really terrible happened to the PC the other one.

I'm pretending I know for sure that it was just the keyboard, and not something wrong with my USB port. Since I don't actually have any other USB devices, it would be pretty difficult to test this theory anyway.
