Why? Why why why why why will you play my vid+audio clip just fine in the monitor, but every time I try to export it, in *every* damn format you offer, I get audio and no video, or garbled, visual gibberish? Why? Why do you hate me, Premiere?

Edit: the problem, she is fixed. Still don't know what was making Premiere go spastic (at least not for sure) but re-recording the original video clip in another format seemed to make it happy.

/using a book as a shild.

It might have something to do with your codec (the format your video is in). Which one are you using? And also, your player might not be able to read it and your video is perfectly fine.

I'm honestly not sure what codec it's trying to save in when I export to avi. I've saved it in *everything* though. WMV. RealVideo. *Nothing* gives me a video track in playback. Not even when playing back an avi file *inside* Premiere. Surely if Premiere can save in that format, it has the codec to uncompress and play in it?

Um...huh? Right now I really wished I had a copy of Premiere to look at, but that's on my other computer. Tee hee. I'll just back away slowly, because I'm sure someone will be along and knows what your problem is. bonibaru! a little help here.

This is really strange - you can see the vid on preview, but not able to export it...damn. WMV and RM are messed up as well?

What avi codec are your clips in the timeline compressed with?

That was the problem -- I'd captured the video clip on some bizarre custom setting (on my tv card) that was freaking Premiere out. I re-recorded it in mpeg and started the project over and Premiere is happy as a clam, rendered and saved the new file without a problem.

For the moment, unil it decides to torment me again....

To actually answer the question, though, yes, even WMV and Real formats were messed up -- and I think the (or a) problem was that the avi file wasn't compressed at *all*.
