Re: LJ S2 Styles...

But not permanently. I'm just playing with it -- and wondering if I can reverse-engineer it into an S1 style so I can change my damn links to my heart's content, and have a nice big picture of people having The Butt Sex (TM jennyo) my non-gay Xanderpirate and his gay English vampire boyfriend at the top.

Okay, how did you get it to put in your icons on each post without the post then taking up more than a screen's width?

And apparently you can have a picture as your background, it's one of the options...

I think it's just included in the component style -- all I did was tell it to include user icons on my regular journal page, and hey presto.

You can, but on the component style, that background picture has to fit in the space where the little stripe pattern is on mine now. So you can't really see it. You could use it to have a background that's a non-html color, or dots instead of the stripes, or something, but that's about it. And no header pic. :-(

Oooo, if you find a way, will you make it public so I can steal it? :D That's what I dislike about the new style; lack of fun top picture and all.

Plus the overall ugliness, IMHO. It looks snazzy and techy but in a kind of to-my-eye-annoying way.

It is -- it's blocky. I like the color combos, sort of, (which dur, I could recreate on my own style) and the file folder look, but eh -- it's got a very corporate website feel to it.

I think with some work I could recreate the friends page and regular journal/day page -- but not the part where your own user icons show up on your journal page. That's an S2 feature. And probably not the calendar pages, because that's more trouble than I'd ever want to take for a feature I barely use.

God only knows when I might have time or how long it would take though.
