Am I Shallow?

Yes. Others have more intelligent things to say. I say only "Never let them do it concurrently? I call no *fucking* way."

I'm the first to admit that Darla wears the pants in the Darla/Angelus relationship, but like she wouldn't be all over a d/a/d sandwich, even if we left Spike out of the equation? (And yes, like she would care that the Immortal straddles...uh. Good and evil. Uh. So I was saying... Uh.)

Twits.

Especially if they left Spike out of the equation. IJS.

Well, Darla doesn't have a lot of use for Spike, granted. On the other hand, she is not blind.

thank you. I was worried I had just read far too many fanged four orgy fics and thus had a WTF? at that.

I guess it's not impossible - like I said, imo Darla was definitely the boss in the outfit and she visibly didn't have a lot of time for Spike, so if I stretch, I could see her setting things up so *he* was never in bed with her, but even that's a stretch for me. It's the whole thing that TBQ points out about Angelus and slash, applied to kink of all sorts -- "They're the evilest of evil vampires, but they're so whitebread as to make sure everyone pairs up two by two?"

"Never let them do it concurrently? I call no *fucking* way."

That was my first reaction, as well. Yeah, right Angelus. There is no way that is a true statement, and I'm guessing Spike was in the equation.

I could most easily see Darla pushing Spike/William out of it because she thinks he's a fool and will only serve as Dru's playmate (or Angelus' toy) but... my take on the characters thus far is more "She is not going to turn down the pretty during sex just because he acts like an idiot at other times; if she did, Angelus might find his bed pretty cold pretty often as well."

I read it as it's usually A/D/D with Darla in the middle, but never D/A/D with Angelus in the middle. i.e. he might get a chance to do one and then the other (in bed together) but not both at the same time.

But I don't remember the exact dialogue, so I could be making stuff up even more than it seems.

That's about how I read it too -- I don't think it affects the slashiness, but it does fuck up the dynamic that makes most sense for the four of them -- mostly morality-free, and largely about screwing over any lingering taboos they *might* have, so why on earth make sure everyone goes in strict order, like a play on serial monogamy?

I'm going with the theory that if she lets the boys in the bed at the same time, they pay more attention to each other than to her.

I'm less annoyed at the implications for slash of either gender, as I am that Darla/Dru/Angelus seems to have been shot down -- or rather, that the fanged four are pretty much into twosome sex, no matter which combination. The implication as I read it was that Darla and Dru don't let either of the guys have both girls at the same time - as that would parallel what the Immortal had done.

I can't recall, who was it who said "You never let us do that!" Cause if it WAS Spike.. then maybe no one told him. ;)

Damn. Always shot down. ;P

Anyway, I'm sure it's somehow WB's fault. Heh. "We can't let our audiance think such sordid things about the main characters!" "..What show are YOU talking about?"

::cough::

I agree, until we hear otherwise from the writers, I am willing to give the WB the blame, and am willing to believe the writers originally wrote something slashier than the dialog we heard (and after all, Steven S. DeKnight is gay, right?), although it was all kind of hilarious anyway, just because it is so easy for Darla to emasculate them.
