Dear LJ:

I have a 15 inch monitor.

I have 800x600 resolution because if I set it to the bigger numbers, squinting at the text on a 15 inch screen gives me migraine-level headaches in seconds.

I never ever post with anything except the web interface, not counting phone posts.

I browse with Mozilla.

The syphillitic tax-auditing bastard son of a fetid dingo's kidney that is your new posting interface DOES NOT FIT HORIZONTALLY ON MY SCREEN.

Give me back my interface now or so help me God I will STOMP ON YOUR HEAD WITH MY CLOWN SHOES UNTIL YOU CRY.

No love,
Amy

That sucks so much! I wish I could help you, but I need my monitor and don't have the $$$ to buy a new one. Sorry! I hope you find something that works for you.

Heh - I don't need a new monitor. I need LJ to put the web posting interface back the way it was. Have you looked at it today? Because they just changed it this afternoon, I believe.

Eewww... ick!! I normally use Semagic to post. I don't like the new interface. I don't blame you for not liking it. It's blechy!

Dude. I have a 23 inch monitor and it doesn't fit in my standard sized Safari windows. Why? Because I have them normally sized and use the extra monitor space to tile extra windows as needed, instead of creating a single SUPER WINDOW that would take ten seconds to read from left to right.

I can either have to create SUPER WINDOWS that turn entire fanfic paragraphs into single lines, or they can fix their damn posting interface. Hmmmm. Decisions, decisions.

heh.

http://www.livejournal.com/portal/ has not been updated. I don't know how well that fits, but I imagine if you got rid of all possible sidebar options, it should be okay.

I don't think you can get rid of the sidebar options (Like "Frank says," right?); you can only collapse them vertically, which doesn't help with horizontal issues.

Even so, the entry text box itself sill fits on my screen, which beats the main entry page. So I thank you with much thankiness for that.

Annoying thing is that though I can make a link to the portal from my journal/friendslist, the 'update journal' link on the standard LJ sidebar, which is what I use most often to make a new post, will still lead to The Eval Interface. (I can bookmark the portal at home obviously, but not *cough* other places from which I might update.)

I so agree with you. I am a web developer and as such am constantly aware of the 800 x 600 constraint as a minimum. My old mother-in-law uses and 800 x 600 resolution, and this is the standard to which code must conform. Also, when a user 'zooms' (aka 'pluses') their font, the site should stay sane, and not get all overlapping image mappy or weird wrapping tables, etc.
