Hee.
I just got my first completed campaign call (came in on the voicemail) since ages ago during the primaries, I think. It was a live rep from the local Democratic headquarters reminding me to vote if I hadn't yet (and that Gov. Joe Kernan really needs my vote, which was the only annoying part, since he got my vote, but he and his useless and chaos-causing governmental restructuring can still bite my government-employee ass.) and offering to drive me to the polling place if I couldn't get there on my own. That kind of political call, I can deal with.

That's what Carry Oregon here in, you guessed it, Oregon has been doing for weeks. Offering to come by and either pick up ballots or drive people to a ballot drop box. We also have people standing on street corners (in the rain) with ballot bags so people can literally turn their ballot in no matter where they are, lol.

*crosses fingers that it all helps*

The people standing on street corners are the ones that would make me nervous if a) it's a swing state and b) they don't have official identification. There've been some reports about or at least warnings against handing off ballots (esp early and provisional) to people who represent themselves as official, but actually aren't.

Interesting. In the UK, people standing on street corners bagging your vote are illegal, precisely because the chain of custody (and secrecy and all) is broken. At no time does any one person get left alone with a ballot box, even.

Yeah everyone here has ID and they give out carbon copy receipts. I'd be real surprised to hear of any fraud in our county, at least on the part of the democrats.

*crosses fingers again*

There's a bunch of "Drive The Vote" cars here in Chicago too. Man, this election is *crazy*

I think they've offered the service before, here, though I'm not sure. But it's still pretty cool/weird.
