I Blame the Dutch mpoetess

I know I'm not the first person to say this re Dead Like Me
or even the seventh, but it's killing me how much Mason = Doyle with a bit more self-confidence and a bit less conscience. (Er. And less brains.) The clothes. The hair. I occasionally have to blink at him and remind myself it's not Glenn Quinn, different accent or no.

..Holy crap. I never EVER saw that comparison. But now I SO am. o.O

Damn you. ;P

Blame kattahj, I think. Someone pointed it out long before I ever saw my first episode, so I was on the lookout for it.

I *know*, and I really should know better, because I remember Callum Blue from when he was playing Alex's boyfriend Mark on As If. It's *heart-breaking* to watch him as Mason when he looks the most Doyle-ian.

Mind you, his complete disgusting Dave-Lister-level slobbiness does help with the remembering it's not Doyle, but even so, it's hard.

I know! The clothes are a big thing, but the casual attitude does it, too.

2005-05-02 02:53 pm (UTC) (Link)

He leans the same way.

2005-05-01 11:58 am (UTC) (Link)

yep. I did a double take before I remembered that glenn passed over.

I'm about halfway into the season, and the resemblence is not fading away.

2005-05-01 12:38 pm (UTC) (Link)

::blinks:: I didn't, but now that you mention it...shit yes!

2005-05-02 02:54 pm (UTC) (Link)

*has corrupted another one*

2005-05-01 12:52 pm (UTC) (Link)

From the moment I saw Mason onscreen, that's what I've thought and said. They're both fucked-up sides of the same coin somehow, and not just the physical resemblance. (hearts them both)

2005-05-02 02:56 pm (UTC) (Link)

Yeah - I can see where Mason is a Doyle 'could have been' in a way. Or vice versa. One who had more option than Doyle did to run and hide from whatver his big life issues were. Er. Until the whole drilling a hole in his head thing.

2005-05-01 12:54 pm (UTC) (Link)

It never struck me hard, but I can see the resemblance -- definitey, what Doyle would have been if he had lived and Angel had moved to shotime.

I was watching Dead Like Me last night too! I missed the first season and picked up in the second. -- Well, as it turned out I did see one or two first season show, just didn't know it at the time. Love that show ... and therefore they cancel it - bastards

2005-05-02 02:57 pm (UTC) (Link)

Except hopefully Doyle wouldn't have smuggled drugs up his arse. *g* Or drilled a hole in his head. Although in his case, I could understand teh desire to.

2005-05-01 01:53 pm (UTC) (Link)

Wow, you are completely right. The actor was on "Grey's Anatomy" recently and Doylian there too.

2005-05-02 02:58 pm (UTC) (Link)

It is creepy, if pleasantly so.

2005-05-01 02:07 pm (UTC) (Link)

For real.

2005-05-02 02:59 pm (UTC) (Link)

*watches more, racing desperately to the point where she can curse out the network for cancelling it*

2005-05-01 04:18 pm (UTC) (Link)

It's kinda scary actually.

2005-05-02 02:58 pm (UTC) (Link)

It is. It's pleasantly familiar, yet creepy.
