Went to The Gay Bookstore That Can Only Be Approached By Driving In A Big Circle Due To One-Way And Diagonal Streets WTF, and picked up But I'm a Cheerleader (haven't watched yet) and The Truth About Jane, a movie-of-the-week about high school coming-out which is very MOTW, at least in the final third, but wins due to the baby lesbian being portrayed by Ellen Muth, of Dead Like Me, and her mother being (slightly over)played by Stockard Channing. Also a fluffy lesbian chick-mystery novel that I haven't read yet.

Then we went next door to the coffee shop where maeyan's former co-worker now works, for conversation, gossip, and perusal of cute gay boys. Of which there were several.

Watched Ring 2 this week, and, not to echo the multitudes, but OMGWTFCaribou? Really, really really bad CGI reindeer. I'm not even hung up on the cracktastic plotty thing of the mother and son being attacked by them; I'm still back at expecting Shrek to ride out on the lead stag's back, it was that cartoony.

Happy Birthday to maeyan, BTW. Um, yesterday. Not that I forgot it, but I didn't think to mention it in LJ.

Can't do Boys Don't Cry - I can't do tragedy. Not dramatised, anyway; I occasionally read true-crime novels or watch casefile shows. I've read the Aphrodite Jones bio on Brendon (All She Wanted) years before the movie came out, and that's enough exposure to vicious assholery for me.

*nods* True...that is very much a tragedy....
