I did too - even though I KNEW it had to be an April Fool prank, I still clicked without looking at what I was clicking because I figured the prank post would be in the comm.

Ditto. Nicely played indeed.

THis day usually makes me pretty nervous overall, but this is a good way to start it.

I did not! Hell, I kinda feel guilty for pointing it out, because it's such a good one.

LJ got a bunch of its users with a Rickroll. (The previous link is not one.) Which is pretty much just an unexpected link to an earwormy 80's song, but the fact that it came from LJ, and that they were aware enough of their own issues to know that the way to sucker people into clicking it was to invent yet another new official LJ news comm to follow, was funny.

No, I get that it was funny that the news post went to a music video. I just don't have a clue what "Rickroll" is or who was in the music video or why I should care.

The what and the who are both covered in the Encyclopedia Dramatica not wikipedia link; the why, I can't speak for. I care because it amused me, which LJ as a company hasn't been doing a lot of recently.

I just appreciate that there's someone working at LJ now who isn't ever going to give me up, let me down, tell a lie, or hurt me.

PS That was the ONLY rickrolling I fell for today even though I got sent like FOUR. I managed to escape the rest.

God. I hate you, Internet.

You know what's funny - I had the same though about GW.

I never knew what a Rickroll was either.

I'd never heard of rickrolling until sometime last week when kayteanbee mentioned it in the context of the song actually getting played on the radio at her coffee shop. Which may be why I found it all the more funny; I love when serendipity seems to jump up and throw something I've just learned about in my face like, "See that thing last week? It was just so you'd get this joke today!"

RICKROLLED! I love it.

Of course, I only heard of it for the first time last week. Ask me a few months from now and I suspect it won't be nearly that funny. But right now it's hilarious. I could kiss whoever came up with doing it as a "thing" instead of a one-off.

Me too! And yeah, I'm sure I'm mostly amused by the serendipity of a joke I only became aware of recently getting played, and played well, shortly thereafter.
