I... I...
WHAT, Nicky? I...

I have no.... I just.

[Trailer for Nick Brendon's new pilot, in which he plays a fictionalized version of himself, in a supporting role. Neither worksafe nor BRAIN safe. The Nick-related jhadkjshd;ahondiubibWHUT starts at about 2:10.]

I... just... WHAT?! No, no, no, no....

Would you happen to have any extra brain bleach for not only the NB-related atrocity, but the badness in general?

NO. *hoards brain bleach*

Yeah, that was pretty much my reaction, too. He must be desperate for work.

I'm not sure whether it's "desperate for work" or "OMFG guys, guys you GUYS I have this awesome idea! We'll have a show about us only, you know, like, the asshole versions of us?"

I guarantee you that at some point during the planning for this it was described as a "younger, edgier Curb Your Enthusiasm."

That thought is funnier than anything in the trailer and isn't nearly as mentally scarring.

Oh, the pitch comes right out and says it shares the myopic characters of "Curb Your Enthusiasm;" the random insanity of "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia;" and the witty banter of “Arrested Development.”

The sad thing is I would watch it. I'd hate it, but I'd watch it.

I watch and love two of those shows and have heard good things about the third one.

I think I'd get through about 15 minutes of this just to see how long I can stand it. I doubt I'd make it through the episode.

Whereas I adore Arrested Development, couldn't bear to watch Curb Your Enthusiasm, and have never actually seen It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Where does that leave me? Other than pretending that it doesn't exist?

I ... think that being a John Barrowman fan is safer than being a Nick Brendon fan. *runs*

Of course it is! Yours will make make out with James Marsters!

And patches him up when he's hurt on set. Which somehow ends up with James feeling more comfortable making out with him on camera.

Hmmm. John Barrowman's idea of first aid may not be what everyone else's is.

It is really tame RPF! They're all playing themselves! (Though yeah, bonus brainbreaky points for finding another James and another Emma to have him perform with.)

That's really... almost enough for me to give up on TV, is what it's really.

Julia, I can see me now, hiding in my bedroom, watching my Slings and Arrows Boxed set over and over again...

I don't feature it getting picked up a) we could just end the sentence there, or b) by a network that's not HBO or showtime, fwiw.

I am not sure whether it speaks to my level of irreversible corruption or just how tired I am that I actually mentally inserted the word "hand" in that sentence when I was skimming the comment notification, then had to go back and look again to check.

The sad thing (for me) is I'm amused by the show in a vague 'this is one of those shows that wants me to watch characters I can't stand as people because the dialogue is funny' way. It's just .... ahidhsdkjsdkjh WHUT.

I just felt so bad for the whole cast. Money must be tight in Hollywood if this gets on the air. Sorry Nicky, but the show is crap. Right now I'm just mad that Nicky made me hate him in white briefs. *shudder*

And yet, I would watch it because it's Nick.

Oh NICK... please to be stopping that now, ok?

Yes, I'm not terribly fond of that usually. I like Arrested Development and Flight of the Concords but often Curb Your Enthusiasm makes me want to dive behind the sofa. That said, this thing doesn't look anywhere near as good as ANY of those three shows.
